Apex Poetry
‘The tip of the spear’
Apex Poetry is a UK based webzine which publishes only the best poetry. We favour imagistic poetry with an emphasis on rhythm over rhyme. Our focus is to showcase poetry with concrete details that enable the reader to sense the world created on the page. We love creative risks and experimental poems, even if they don’t always work.
Sadly we cannot contact everyone who submits work to us, so, if you do not hear from us after two weeks from submitting work please note you have been unsuccessful at that time.
The History
Apex was founded by Gloucestershire Poet Laureate Z. D. Dicks in 2020
Z. D. Dicks is the editor for Apex and carefully regulates the quality of submissions. He holds an MA in Creative and Critical Writing from the University of Gloucestershire and has been published in many respectable journals, anthologies and webzines.
He currently has two full collections ‘Malcontent’ and ‘Intimate Nature’ through Black Eyes Publishing.His new collection ‘Vexed’ is due to be published in October 2020.
In 2016, Dicks founded both the Gloucestershire Poetry Society and the Gloucester Poetry Festival, and considers himself an ambassador for poetry, as ‘Life is poetry’.
